Examination And Promotion

Modern education system emphasizes on the overall development of the learner. Keeping pace with the changed system, our school has introduced CCE (Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation) pattern of Evaluation for the classes VI to X under the Strict guidelines of CBSE. The changed system will provide holistic profile of the learner through regular Assessment of scholastic and co-scholastic domains of development in a stress free environment. Details for the same are summarized below

Classes I-V
  • The academic year will have series of four evaluations comprising of four written exams and orals on the basis of term wise continuous and comprehensive evaluation as part of their summative assessment.

    Evaluation I (Unit Test I) : April to August
    Evaluation II (Term Test I) : August to November
    Evaluation III (Unit Test II) : November to February
    Evaluation IV (Term Test II) : February to March
  • The performance of the child will be assessed on the basis of his participation in all the scholastic and co-scholastic cultural activities, work experience, art education, physical and health education, life skills, attitude towards teachers, peer group, school value system as part of Formative Assessment.

  • Five point rating scale will be used. The grades will stand for the following distribution of marks.

GRADING SYSTEM
A+ Outstanding 90% -100%
A Excellent 75% -89%
B Very Good 56% -74%
C Good 40% -55%
D Scope for Improvement Below 40%

Classes VI to X

Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) refers to the system of school based evaluation of students that covers all the aspects of students development.

The Academic year will have 2 Terms 1st Term - April to September 2nd Term - October to March Moreover each term will comprise of two formative and one summative examination.

Term 1st - FA1 + FA2 + SA1
Term 2nd - FA3+ FA4+ SA2
Final Assessment - FA1 + FA2 + FA3 + FA4
10 + 10 + 10 + 10 = 40%
SA1 + SA2
30 + 30 = 60%
Total 50 + 50 = 100%

The assessment will be indicated in Grades as shown below. This system will assess students on the basis of Work experience, Art education, Physical and health education, Life skills, attitude towards teacher, peer group, school value system, creative scientific skills.

Promotion to the next class will be based on the observation of Continuous Evaluation throughout the year.

Class XI

N.B. it is mandatory for all students of class XI to be members of St. Johns' Old Student's Association for future alumni benefits.

  • Admission to class XI begins in March and based on the all round performance of the student throughout class IX and X and sound character and conduct.
  • Eligibility
    Science:
    Maths, Science 8.5 grade point and above in both subjects + overall grade point
  • Commerce: Maths, English 7.5 grade points and above in both subjects + overall grade point
  • Please note :-
    students are required to have 75% attendance both in class IX & X.
  • Students who have been regularly fee defaulters are not eligible for class XI admission.
  • The admission however will be barred to those students who for serious reasons of breach of discipline are a threat to the general well being of other students and also for serious negligence of studies such as -
  • a) Students who have been promoted in any class from VI onwards without securing minimum passing marks.
  • b) Students whose parents do not attend the parent teacher meeting or whose report cards remain uncollected after examinations.
  • c) Students who have been regularly defaulting in doing home work and not submitting it for correction.

Class XII

The academic year will have monthly evaluation tests, test series, mid term and Pre-board 1 and Pre-board 2. Attendance in all examinations including Pre-boards is compulsory / mandatory.

Important Note : If a student is found using any sort of unfair means in any of the examinations, zero will be awarded to him/her. If he/she repeats the same he/she will be asked to leave the school.
